Brentwood Bay Lodge Victoria

Brentwood Bay in Victoria BC

Brentwood Bay in Victoria BC

We stayed for two nights on route to the Campbell River on a trip from London. The setting is beautiful with lovely views across the water, although a little isolated. Our room was by far the best that we had throughout our trip, incredibly comfortable and perfect for a romantic break. The shutters from the huge whirlpool bath can be left open to have a fabulous view across the bay, every conceivable luxury included in the room – even a kettle as well as a French coffee maker with a variety of herbal teas available. The staff were friendly and helpful, working out routes for our next stage of the journey. Lovely small swimming pool and tub on the deck. Food interesting in the main restaurant, but not quite so exciting in the pub. We loved this hotel – a real treat.

Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

We booked the metropolitan online, after reading some of the reviews on TA. What a fantastic choice!  Our room was very large, and featured a very comfortable king bed with soft sheets, a down comforter and lots of pillows. .. Vancouver Metropolitan Hotel Reviews

My husband and I stayed for two nights at the Empress in Victoria. Much like other reviewers on this site, I found the public rooms are lovely and the service is excellent.
Nothing beats the Empress for it’s views or location (quite nice to be front row centre on the harbour!) and the staff service was very good.
We had drinks in the Bengal Lounge in the evening and enjoyed the jazz band, breakfast in the Empress Room and Afternoon Tea complete with fires going at both ends of the hall and a pianist in the corner. Everything was done well, and the public rooms are exactly as you find on the website: very early 20th century “grand.”
The Tea was a tad expensive (with tax & tip it’s CDN$45/pp) but I loved the service and the food was nicely traditional. Basically it’s one of those things that you can experience in few places so if you like that kind of thing, indulge and enjoy.
Breakfast was pretty much on par with other Fairmonts — they provide some niceties to add to the charm.

My husband and I pored over hotels to choose one for our honeymoon. We finally settled on a penthouse suite here and absolutely could not have been more pleased. We LOVED this place! ALL of the staff we came into contact with were welcoming, friendly, and went above and beyond to be helpful. They drew us a map to the airport at 5am and even went so far as to help me arrange secret surprises for my husband’s birthday and sneakily orchestrate them! In all the service we encountered even the smallest details were attended to. The location is FANTASTIC for anyone who wants to be close to downtown but not right in the middle of the busy traffic and challenging parking. The wonderful public market and numerous restaurants and shops are just a quick walk away, as are the ferries that take you to other parts of Vancouver.

Romantic Travel

September 18, 2008

Romantic Travel
Let this be the year that your travel plans focus on fun, fantasy, and festivities!
Plan a real vacation. No, it doesn’t have to be an around the world cruise or first class getaway. It does have to be an honest-to-goodness vacation, though. No cell phones, no laptops, no kids no business. Mark the dates on the calendar and keep it just like you’d keep any other appointment. Romantic travel you owe it to yourself.
Involve each other in the trip planning. All too often, one partner does all the work in planning the trip. Plan your trip together! Anticipation is half the fun. Visit a travel agent. Collect brochures. Buy a guidebook. Rent a video about your destination. Search the internet for information.
Do something or go somewhere that you have never done before. You can be as mild — or as wild — as you dare. Go whitewater rafting. Rent a houseboat. Take a hot air balloon ride. Spend the night in a local bed and breakfast. Learn to scuba dive. Dance the whole night away under the stars. The choice is yours.
Take one mini-vacation every month or two. Whether it’s for a couple of nights or just for the night out, plan one tiny slice of a vacation every month, give yourself that small pleasure knowing you are going to drop everything and make that quick dash to somewhere special.
Go to a festival. Special events take place at just about every community around the world. Whatever your interests — from outdoor adventure, square dancing to wine tasting — you’ll find a festival celebrating with a day or two of fun and food.
The only rule: you must pretend you’re on vacation. Book a night at a local bed and breakfast. Call your local hotel and find out their non-peak nights (in business-oriented cities, it’s usually Friday and Saturday) then plan your short romantic getaway.
Remember Romantic travel you owe it to yourself. Go rejuvinate your senses !

You dont have to be on a Honeymoon to stay at one of these !
